Whoever knows me, knows that I love chocolate. Spicy. Salty. Caramely. I'll have it all. When I was little, my favourite chocolate was Reese cups. I loved taking one cup out at a time, pealing the paper cup and savouring every bite as it melted in my mouth. But things have changed over the years. I still love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate, but reese cups are full of sugar. Now when I eat a Reese cup, I instantly feel a burning sensation in my throat. I've also stopped eating the traditional bars because they contain dairy (I cannot digest the protein in milk and feel foggy after consuming it, so I've decided to follow a dairy-free diet).
When I first quit dairy, it was a bit challenging to satisfy my chocolate addiction (unless I made my own), but it wasn't long before I discovered vegan chocolate (with extra health benefits).
Cue.... Zazubean chocolate.
Zazubean is organic superfood chocolate in 12 different flavours. Zazubean is committed to making good dark chocolate ( > 70% cacao) by putting only good clean ingredients into every bar that are organic, gluten-free, soy-free & GMO-free. The delicious fair-trade chocolates are USDA organic, gluten free, vegan and soy free (might apply to a selected few).
The two Zazubean chocolates I tried were the Nakid (vanilla & cacao nibs) and Saltry (sea salt & almonds). Great flavour combinations and you can enjoy more than one square without feeling guilty. If you crave chocolate, don't hesitate and reach for the good clean ingredient chocolate. It will satisfy your sweet tooth.
"Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants (flavonoids) that may even protect against heart disease and high blood pressure by reducing the bad cholesterol and increasing the good cholesterol HDL. Eating chocolate with a cocoa content of 70% and above is much healthier because of health properties of cocoa and the lowered sugar content." (Zazubean)
What's you favourite chocolate? I'm always for the hunt for new flavours! Hot chocolate recipe anyone?
