March is Nutrition Month
Good morning readers, hope you are all feeling energized and ready to kick start this beautiful day. What does everyone have planned for the day, week or month? Are you making sure you are fuelling your body with the right foods to help you thrive and succeed? Scientific studies indicate that what we eat has a profound impact on our current and future health. I'm sure we have all felt the consequences of eating a full bag of chips in one sitting (guilty!) or eating a sugary chocolate bar. We feel sluggish, more tired and maybe even break out. But this comes to no surprise because we all heard the mantra "you are what you eat". How do you expect to feel your best, think clearly and chase your dreams if you are not eating well.
Throughout the month of March, also known as Nutrition month, I will shed light on various diets and why certain diets don't work, provide you with the basics of human nutrition and the importance of nutrition.
To kickstart Nutrition month, here are a few tips to get through the work/school/regular day:
- Make breakfast ahead of time (try making a cacao chia pudding the night before or mix oats, nuts, chia, berries and sheep yogurt (or coconut yogurt for vegans - but make sure you add protein)
- Feeling tired and sluggish by the afternoon? Snack on mixed nuts, drink water or have a green smoothie. Avoid sugar as it will make you feel more tired.
- Got unwanted food cravings? Snack on mixed nuts, date balls and drink water to curb your craving. Protein is a great way to curb your cravings.
