Recipe: Cacao Pudding


I've tried various pudding recipes and none of them really stuck with me. I didn't like the ingredient combination or texture. But things changed once I experimented and added cacao powder and chopped almonds instead of almond butter. It was out of this world good.

Chia seeds are considered a superfood and contains omega fatty acids, calcium, antioxidants and fibre. The omega-3 fats help to lower inflammation and keep your brain and cardiovascular system healthy. Chia seeds are a complete protein that helps balance blood sugar and crush cravings. You can add them to your morning smoothies, oat meal, cereal or desserts. Here's how to make this delicious (and nutritious) pudding:



  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup almonds, chopped
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp raw honey
  • water


  • berries or sliced banana





  1. Mix all ingredients (except for water and toppings) in a bowl.
  2. Add water until all ingredients are fully covered.
  3. Let sit for 30 minutes for chia seeds to absorb the water.
  4. Top with berries or sliced banana.
  5. Bon apetit!

Cacao (a superfood!) is an excellent source of magnesium, a very high source of fibre and a good source of zinc. Cacao is extremely high in antioxidants and protects cells from premature aging. It reduces blood pressure and insulin resistance while also improving learning and memory.
