The day is gloomy. It feels like the perfect day to stay in bed with a good book or movie and endless amount of snacks. It also feels like a good time to take a moment from the chaotic day and reflect on my life's challenges, opportunities and successes. Let's dive into a Meaningful Eats discussion.
If you are not familiar with Meaningful Eats, it's a regular feature post where I share a nourishing recipe and answer a thought provoking question. These questions are meant to challenge me (and you) to think outside the box and outside the regular "how's the weather", "what are you doing this weekend?" questions and small talk. When we dive into meaningful conversations, we build strong relationships, we challenge our values, we strengthen our beliefs and we feel more confident.
So reach out to a friend or join the Facebook group and let's expand our minds and network. Remember, there's no right or wrong answer. We all come from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences, so let's be respectful.
What is the biggest obstacle that stands in your way right now?
Right now, my biggest obstacle that stands in my way is fear. Fear has this sneaky way of slipping into my life unannounced, prolonging decisions, questioning my every move and even stopping me from moving forward.
Fear is unavoidable and will always take the passenger seat misdirecting me at times. However, I know I have control over my fear (I am the driver of my life), and I can at any point have the final say.
Fear is not a bad thing. In fact, fear can sometimes be on your side. Perhaps it's telling you to be cautious or simply questioning your beliefs to help you conquer challenges and obstacles. For example, I wanted to move to a new city to challenge myself, learn to navigate around a new city and go outside my comfort zone. Fear was there along the way questioning my every move. Are you sure you want to do this? You don't know anyone it's going to be lonely? What if you don't find a job? And so on.
There were definitely times where I almost backed out because of fear, but I knew deep down that if I didn't go with it, I would regret it. Even though the fear was constantly whispering in my ear, I chose not to listen to it and go with my gut. No regrets there.
Now let me ask you. What one obstacle is standing in your way? How will you overcome it? (Ps I know you can!)
While you ponder that question, let me share with you my smoothie bowl recipe. It's filling, delicious and nutritious.
- 1/2 cup berries (strawberries, blueberries or mixed berries)
- 1/2 banana
- handful of spinach
- splash of almond milk
- 1 cup homemade granola (or store bought - look for all natural ingredients with no added sugar)
- 1-2 tbsp of chia seeds
Blend fruit, almond milk and spinach until well blended. Pour in bowl and have fun sprinkling the chia seeds and granola on top. Grab a spoon and enjoy!
